> Short answers about what Condensate is and how to get it.

## What it is

### What is Condensate?

An agent runtime that runs on your Mac. It runs Claude Code, Codex and Condensate's own agent on the Claude and ChatGPT accounts you connect, and records every message, tool call and result of each task in that task's log. Each agent works in its own worktree and asks you when it needs something.

### What do Use, Connect and Build mean?

They are the three ways in. You can use Condensate directly ([Use](https://condensate.dev/use/)), put it under agent tools you already run ([Connect](https://condensate.dev/connect/)), or build your own product on its runtime ([Build](https://condensate.dev/build/)).

### What does it add to Claude Code and Codex?

Account failover, spending limits per workspace, review rooms, and an OpenAI-compatible endpoint for your scripts. Each workspace spends only its own accounts, and your scripts call those accounts under the same workspace rules. A review room puts a builder and a reviewer on one pull request, with each verdict pinned to the commit it reviewed.

## Accounts and limits

### Can I connect several accounts?

Yes, several for each provider. Each workspace has its own ordered list of the accounts it may spend.

### What happens when an account runs out?

The task moves to the next account in the workspace and resumes from its log, without re-running tools that already ran. It never retries an account it already tried for that task. If every account is out, the task stops, and the error names each account, why it is out, and the earliest reset.

## Where it runs

### Does it run in the cloud?

No. The runtime and the agents run on your Mac, and the threads are stored there. You follow and steer them from Dex, Condensate's browser app, or from the iPhone app.

### Do agents see my keys?

Not their model logins, unless you turn the credential proxy off. Each agent gets a placeholder, and the proxy puts the real token on the call as it leaves for the provider. GitHub tokens and other service keys stay real inside the agent; see [Security](https://condensate.dev/security/).

## Building and access

### Can I build on it?

Yes. The runtime has an HTTP API, and a typed SDK ships with early access. A client that reconnects reads from its last event and gets everything after it; see [Build](https://condensate.dev/build/).

### Is it open source?

No. The source is private for now.

### How do I get access?

By invitation. Condensate is pre-release and runs on one Mac, and the iPhone app is installed by hand; see [Status](https://condensate.dev/status/).
