# Overview (https://condensate.dev/)

> Condensate runs Claude Code, Codex and its own agent on machines you own, and makes every session a thread: an exact record that outlives the terminal, the process and a restart of the machine.

Each agent you start becomes a thread. The thread holds every message, tool call, result and approval, in order, written down before the agent acts. Close the tab, lose the connection or restart the machine, and the thread is still there to read. If a reply was cut off, the thread says so, and pressing Resume continues it.

Agents work in their own copies of your repository, so several can work on one project at once. They draw on the Claude and ChatGPT plans you have signed in, and when one plan runs out, the next request moves to another. By default they never hold your real logins: each gets placeholders, and the real credential is added on the way out, only for the service it belongs to.

This is Dex, the app you run it from, in a browser or on your phone. You type a task, an agent takes it, and its reply and every tool call land in the same thread. The phone app lets you know when an agent needs you.

## Get access

Condensate is pre-release and invite-only. [Status](https://condensate.dev/status/) says what works today. With access, one command installs it on a Mac, on Linux, or on Windows through WSL, and [Run locally](https://condensate.dev/start/quickstart/) walks through it.

## Implementation

- A message is stored before any agent acts on it: `packages/agents-host/src/thread.ts:2770`.
- A reply cut short by a crash is marked lost by `lostTurn` in `packages/agents-host/src/lost-turn.ts:14`, and waits for a person to press Resume.
- Each agent's copy of the repository comes from a pool kept full by `staleLocks` in `packages/agents-host/src/keeper-treehouse.ts:73`.
- A request never goes back to an account it already tried, in `packages/agents-host/src/account-failover.ts:240`.
- The iPhone alert is a notification with sound, in `apps/condensate-live/App/AlertNotifications.swift:48`.
- The placeholder values an agent holds are in `packages/agents-host/src/proxy-placeholders.ts`; the proxy is on unless `CONDENSATE_PROXY=off`, in `packages/agents-host/src/proxy-boot.ts:1`.
- The installer is `scripts/install.sh`; its Docker mode runs on macOS, Linux and Windows under WSL2 (`scripts/install.sh:5`).
